A review request that lands before the parcel does gets ignored, and one that lands long after the product was used gets forgotten. Most Shopify review apps send requests automatically; the difference is which event starts the clock and how much control you have after that. This guide covers how Quoli times requests to delivery, the defaults it ships with, and how other apps describe automatic requests on their Shopify App Store listings as of October 16, 2026.
Choosing the event that starts the clock
In Quoli, the Start after setting under Settings > Collect and publish > Review requests offers three events. The first request then follows after a delay you choose, from 0 to 30 days.
- Purchase: the clock starts when the order is placed.
- Fulfillment: the clock starts when you fulfill the order. This is the default.
- Delivery: the clock starts when the parcel is marked delivered.
Fulfillment works well when shipping times are short and consistent. Delivery is the better choice when transit times vary by region or carrier, because the gap between arrival and the request stays the same for every customer.
Where Quoli gets delivery dates
For the delivery trigger, Quoli reads delivery status from one of three sources:
- Shopify's own order tracking.
- AfterShip, if you already track shipments there.
- Track by Loop, for stores that use Loop for tracking.
AfterShip and Track by Loop both appear on Quoli's integrations page. If you move from the fulfillment trigger to delivery, shorten the delay to match, since the clock now starts later.
Default request settings and when to change them
| Setting | Default | Options |
|---|---|---|
| Start after | Fulfillment | Purchase, fulfillment or delivery |
| First request | 7 days later | 0 to 30 days |
| Reminder | On, 2 days later | On or off |
| Photo request | Off | On or off |
| Auto-publish | 4 stars and up | By star rating |
Quoli's review request defaults for a new store.
The defaults suit products customers can judge soon after they arrive. Lengthen the delay for products that take time to show results, such as skincare or supplements, and shorten it for consumables used right away. To send a single request early, use Send now on the queued order. Reviews below the auto-publish rating wait for you, and reviews written on the storefront are held for approval by default.
Reminders and the photo request
The reminder is a second email that follows the first request, 2 days later by default. The photo request is a separate email, off by default, sent only when a review arrives without a photo or video. Its subject reads "Add a photo to your review" and its button reads "Add a photo or video". Photos work on every plan; video uploads need Starter or above, which is also where rewards begin, as discount codes that can differ for text, photo and video reviews.
Sending requests from Shopify Flow
Quoli adds a Send review request action to Shopify Flow. A workflow can use it when the built-in timing does not fit, for example to ask for a review only when an order carries a certain tag. Quoli also adds Flow triggers for Review submitted, Review published and Question asked, and Klaviyo connects to Quoli through Shopify Flow in the same way.
Customers who ordered before you installed
Quoli records orders placed after install and does not backfill older ones, so automatic requests start with your next orders. For earlier customers:
- Manual review requests let you ask any customer by hand, and every plan includes 50 a month.
- Request a review from a customer's profile in Quoli.
- Share a review link or QR code, for example on a packing insert or in a newsletter.
- Import the reviews you already have. The CSV import works on every plan, and on Starter and up the Quoli team moves your reviews for you.

From each app's Shopify App Store listing on October 16, 2026. A plan name means the listing ties the feature to that plan. "Listed" means it appears without a plan. "Not listed" means it does not appear on the listing, which does not prove the app lacks it.
Every app here lists automatic requests, most of them on a free plan. Judgeme, Okendo, Stamped, Junip and Fera also list SMS review requests, which Quoli does not offer yet. Built-in SMS is coming soon, and WhatsApp requests run through Dondy, WhatFlow or ITS, connected by the Quoli team. The listings do not say which event starts each app's requests, so check delivery timing in each app before you switch.
Checking that requests arrive at the right time
Quoli's Analytics page shows the request funnel (Delivered, Opened, Clicked, Reviewed), the submission rate, and requests and reviews over time. If customers open the email but few go on to review, the request may be landing before they have used the product. Lengthen the delay or move to the delivery trigger, then compare the funnel over the following weeks.
